At the center of ULG is our founder and managing partner, Nwabufo “Obi” Umunna. A lifelong Jacksonville native and proud graduate of the University of Florida Levin College of Law, Obi built his reputation working with prestigious firms in South Florida before returning home to establish Umunna Legal Group. His deep community roots and commitment to service are reflected in everything the firm does. Obi serves on the UNF Pre-Law Advisory Board, hosts the popular Power Move Mondays platform, and is an active Supreme Court Circuit Civil Mediator, lending his expertise to some of the region’s most complex cases.

In 2020 Obi Umunna, Esq. created an annual appreciation event to honor members of the African-American Media by bringing together journalists as well as representatives from tv, radio, newspapers, and social media influencers under one roof. The Ken Knight Awards, named after Adrian Kenneth Knight, a legendary broadcaster who broke barriers in radio and television broadcasting, because of his mission in life to uplift African Americans in the Media.
